SNOWMOBILING

Winters in Plumas County offer the opportunity for prime snowmobiling, often on untouched snow and under clear blue Sierra skies. There is nothing like racing over the frozen ice of Lake Davis (check with locals before testing the ice, though!) or making it to the top of a steep mountain and realizing you are the only person for miles of snowbound stillness.

If you have some experience under your belt and are looking for challenging rides, or you’re just a beginner, the Lakes Basin Recreation Area near Graeagle, Buck’s Lake, La Porte, and Butte Meadow’s near Chester/ Lake Almanor offer access to miles of back-country with lots of climbs and fantastic views.
